SHELLEY’S RECOMMENDATIONS

DINACHARYA – daily routine
• More consistent bedtime/wake-up time
• More energetic start to the day
• AM Ayurvedic support:
• Setting alarm & have something that gets you up!
• Once up – Neti stick and/or Nasya oil for a vibrant ummph…
• Tongue scraping
• Warm water 6 oz w/ lemon or lime first thing

SIX TASTES/AGNI SUPPORT – DOSHA BALANCING
Tastes to balance – pungent, bitter, astringent
Pungent – can come from spices (black pepper, cinnamon, cumin, Banyan Botanicals Kitchari spice mix), garlic, onion
Astringent – all kinds of beans, legumes, apples, pears, oats
Bitter – spices, “bitter” greens – chard, collards, kale
• Trying to regulate timing of meals
Less of these tastes – sweet (soothing), salty (they build Kapha)

BREAKFAST BLEND – organic if possible
• 1 TBL turmeric powder
• 1 TBL cinnamon
• 1 tsp ground ginger
• 1 tsp cardamom powder
• 1 tsp ground cloves
Delicious to add to oats, tea.

OJAS support – nurturing, sustaining quality
• More time in nature – walking on the beach, time in a park, sitting on the porch in the coolness of the evening, full moon, sitting in the quiet beginning of the day.

Movement/Yoga/Exercise/Rest
• Active during Kapha time of day.
• Consistency with favorite exercise activity…..beginning yoga class?

Wind down routine…
• Setting bedtime – ½ hour before NO more devices including TV – give yourself a decompress period.
• Can be Legs up the Wall – Viparita Karuna – to relax and wind down.

SPIRITUAL practice…
• Can be while resting with legs up the wall listening to a guided meditation.
• Taking time – as you do in the AM to say a prayer – gratitude practice for the day, connecting to that “thing” that is greater than us…
