Why Become an AMHW Coach?

After physical, mental, or emotional trauma or experiencing anxiety / depressive symptoms, the nervous system can become stuck in a chronic state of dysregulation. In this state, we can begin to feel hopeless or disempowered. Sometimes common external or environmental cues can be misinterpreted as threats. Our stress response can get activated by these cues or triggers and create unwanted reactive behaviors. While the cues may not be threats, our reactivity can create challenges in engaging with others. This includes engaging with a traditional talk therapist, making it difficult to progress through therapy.

As a therapist, or in the role of healer/caregiver/ educator, your ability to develop and use tools to guide a client out of this dysregulated state toward a sense of safety is critical. Triggers, anniversary dates, sense stimulation, and the holiday season can introduce unique stressors that often challenge a client’s ability to regulate, tasking their resilience and further complicating existing difficulties. The AMHWC offers you a powerful set of tools and time-tested protocols to address self-regulation and support clients to manage stress response better and, in doing so, foster resilience and promote lasting change.

Here are eight reasons to add the technology of the AMHWC to your practice:

1. Enhances self-regulation and increases resilience to manage everyday challenges better.

2. Time-tested Ayurvedic and Western psychology concepts that are supported through clinical case studies and real-world evidence.

3. Applied science practices are taught that will build tone in the vagus nerve from the Ayurvedic and the Yogic sciences.

4. AMHWCoach community supports continued learning and community via monthly online meetings, increasing social engagement and connection so important when working in the healthcare profession.

5. Offering clients the integration of East/West psychology aids in trauma recovery and post-traumatic growth.

6. The AMHWCoach approach complements other therapeutic modalities and can be integrated into various therapeutic settings across the lifespan.

7. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, alongside Ayurvedic psychology, aids in integrating thinking (cognition) with energetic medicine and somatic therapy.

8. The AMHWCoach program will supply the clinician/caregiver/ educator with specific grids, treatment planning guides, and protocols to offer clients, to wrap around them day to day, and offer support both between sessions building a strong sense of self-mastery and empowerment.

What are the prerequisites for this course?

Regarding prerequisites, it is best to have a background in ONE of the following: Mental Health Professional, Allied Healthcare Professional, Nursing, Allied Professional in the field of Transpersonal Psychology, Yoga Therapist, Yoga Teacher, Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist, Ayurvedic Health Counselor, Ayurvedic Practitioner.

KT’s interest in creating this program was to support those who are currently working in the healthcare industry and to broaden the toolbox for folks working as yoga therapists, yoga teachers, and Ayurvedic Yoga Specialists.

After graduation, is there something I can use as a foundation for custom treatment plans?

YES! KT created Ayurveda for Your Mind: Six Weeks to Better Health and Wellness. This is a basic protocol that you can use to build the personalized AMHWC treatment plan for your client or student. It will also support you to take good care of yourself, prevent burn out and uplevel your current practices to offer you more tools to manage  your stress response.

What are other benefits from being an AMHWCoach?

KT wants to support your efforts to share the healing technology of your AMHWC knowledge, and to that end, you are invited to be a partner.

The six week course is intended as a template for all AMHWCoaches to use as a support structure, and of course, you will need to personalize specific interventions per your client/ student’s needs. The program is yours to use, and if you decide to partner with KT by offering this self-guided course to your students/clients, you will receive a 15% ($37.50) payout for each course sold with your personal AMHWCoach code.

The AMHWCoaches have their own pages on Banyan Botanicals website. Once you graduate you will be given access to these pages where there are specific products that you will have the knowledge to use to support your client’s mental health and wellness. KT has picked out specific items and Banyan Botanicals has graciously offered a special discount for you to use!

Sangha! You will be part of a passionate community of healers. Folks from a range of professional healthcare professions, yoga therapists & educators, allied ayurvedic specialists and CAM’s complimentary allied medical providers…all of us with the same intention and different skill sets looking to stay nourished, curious about learning, and support each other in the work.

And… we all need to have fun too… so, KT’s intention is to have an in-person retreat for all enrolled students AMHWCoachs, to meet each other and share stories and ideas, sometime in fall 2025…  location TBD:)

How long will it take to complete this training? Is there a deadline to finish?

The training has 40 hours of video content, plus live Q&A sessions that are optional to participate in, and will be ongoing.  In addition, there are multiple bonus learning materials within the course to work through on your own time.

Because the program functions best when you have time to integrate the information into your life, there is no deadline for completion. However, KT suggests setting a deadline for yourself so that you have a goal to work toward and stay motivated in your learning. Optimal completion time is six months, yet it is totally reasonable to give yourself a year, especially if you work on the self transformation program, Ayurved for Your Mind too.

Will there be books or other materials that I will need for the course? Where or how can I obtain these?

The following books are suggested for this course, yet not required:

Buddha Brain, by Rick Hanson, PhD

Textbook of Ayurveda :Fundamental Principles Volume 1, by Vasant Lad, MA.Sc

Yoga and Psychotherapy: The Evolution of Consciousness, by Swami Rama, Dr. Rudolph Ballentine, and Swami Ajaya, PhD

The books on the reading list are not included with the course. They can be found on Amazon and other major online booksellers, in most libraries, and in some local bookstores.

Is there homework, required material or a test to graduate?

There is suggested homework included in the manual, section by section. This is for your use and does not need to be turned in to me.

There will be a final exam once you have completed all of the material on Kajabi. You’re encouraged to join or listen in to our biweekly Office Hours to ask questions. We will continue with case studies as students graduate to keep the community fresh, using their AMHWC tools.

How will I receive my certificate once I complete the training?

Yes, you will receive a beautiful certificate awarding you the title: Ayurvedic Mental Health and Wellness Coach.

I’ve already taken the Ayurvedic Specialist Training or 3 Wisdom Traditions course with KT. Should I take this training? How is this training different?

The graduates of the AYS, 3WT, and AHC programs will be able to easily assimilate the information presented in this program into their clinical practice. The AMHWCoach Certificate Program is focused on the integration of East/ west psychology concepts and the specific use of how to apply these concepts in clinical practice. For those students not working clinically, the information presented will support their work with clients, educating students, and is a useful foundation to begin to work with clients using the principles and practices found in the AMHWCoach program.

Can I get continued education hours for my licensure for this training?

We are able to provide 25 hours of CEUs for Yoga Alliance (YA).

We are currently awaiting confirmation from IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists) and NAMA (National Ayurvedic Medical Association). We will be applying for CEUs from the NASW (National Association of Social Workers) and NBCC (National Board of Certified Counselors), along with other professional CEU organizations. Please check back for more information.

What is the format of this course? Is it live or recorded?

The course is pre-recorded with a beautiful module by module guide/manual. KT will continue to meet biweekly with all enrolled students for Office Hours. This is a community, and all are invited to join these sessions, long past their graduation. Staying connected, supported and engaged in communication is critical to continue to build skills and share struggles, you are not alone.

Auxiliary material from many other courses KT has taught is available for you to use as a reference.

There is a second, companion program, that you will receive when you register for the AMHWC.
