Class Information: In times of great adversity and struggle, when we are wobbling in a wobbly world, yoga gives us practices to cultivate focus and find stability. This class weaves meditative awareness through slow-flow hip openers, focusing on balance poses, and moments of conscious relaxation. This self-care practice will nourish and stabilize you and help you access your inner resources and community support, then invite you to re-engage the wobbly world with a bit more steadiness of mind.
Intention: Having lived in Los Angeles for over two decades (my wife and our kids have lived there their whole lives) and recently moved to Colorado, we are completely heartbroken over the destructive wildfires in the greater LA area the past couple of weeks. I’ve opened up my online classes this month to our LA community and family, who are suffering the consequences of these devastating fires. Many have lost their homes and have been displaced. More broadly, we’ve opened up our classes to all those in our worldwide community who are in any way affected by the many tragedies occurring around the world (war, extreme weather events, climate change, collective anxiety, or malaise). I am especially inspired by and grateful for the first responders who have tirelessly fought these fires, rescued people and animals, and done all they can to protect homes and life, and all the heroes that go into danger so that others may be protected. These are troubled times, and we need yoga and community more than ever before. I invite you to come together in community and do yoga together on January 20, and let’s bring some positive energy to each other and the world.
Note: While this session was recorded at a lower resolution, its message of steadiness and resilience shines through. Future recordings will feature higher-quality visuals.
